The existence of a miniature wetland close to Lakewood Moorage just below my home reminds me to support political and social strategies to combat climate change.

Advocacy with 350.org.

Two hawks that have visited my garden recently remind me, like living banners, to persist in advocacy work in service of humans and the environment.

Sometimes a person who's not by temperament a protester has to join in with those who have loud voices.

Typhoon Haiyan and climate change

The devastation wreaked upon the Philippine Islands is the strongest wake up call to do advocacy work that makes an attempt to slow down, at least, the consequences of not paying attention.

Advocacy. Landscape and memory

Koyana Creek and Bluff being mined
unknown photographer

This place, where I lived alone for two months in the summer of 1963 is now being mined and will be re-explored soon.  I want to use this image as an aide memoir for a piece of writing and a painting I'm doing about my memories of this landscape and the memorable experiences I had in it.

Artists' landscape works are increasingly fueled not only by the elegiac but also the visionary and/or ironic.
